WAM candidate for OFL Executive gains solid support at Convention

Julius Arscott, an Executive Board member of the Ontario Public Service Employees' Union and a leader of Socialist Action, was the Workers' Action Movement candidate for Secretary-Treasurer of the Ontario Federation of Labour. He addressed a powerful anti-capitalist message to nearly one thousand delegates to the OFL Convention on November 21 at the Sheraton Center Hotel in Toronto.

Julius received an impressive 21 per cent of the votes cast, up against a very well-funded establishment slate of candidates who, during the pre-convention period, found it necessary to echo many of the themes of the WAM campaign, including for greater union democracy, for mass action and international solidarity, particularly for the beleaguered residents of Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine.
